O'Shea 'making no decision' on his Mayo future after inspiring Breaffy triumph

Mayo GAA star Aidan O’Shea has made it clear he is making no decisions about his inter-county future at this time.

Speaking to TG4 Sport following a man-of-the-match winning display in Breaffy's victory over Belmullet in the Mayo SFC, said: “No doubt Andy and the boys will be having a chat with me, and we’ll see what’s to come.

"But we’ll enjoy these two wins, get the body right, and if I’m to be there in 2027, I am not going to worry about it right now.”

Breaffy headed home from Tallagh yesterday with two vital championship points after a hard-fought 0-15 to 1-8 victory over Belmullet.

The win keeps Breaffy’s perfect record intact after two rounds, though a decisive final clash with Knockmore still awaits to lock down a spot in the last eight.

Belmullet surged out of the blocks, backed by a strong breeze.

A brace of early two-pointers from Ryan O’Donoghue set the tone, before Anthony Barrett capped a brilliant team move by palming the game’s only goal into the net.

Breaffy stayed within touching distance through scores from Joe Mellett, Aidan and Conor O'Shea, leaving them trailing 1-5 to 0-5 at the interval.

The visitors completely reshaped the contest in the second half, outscoring the hosts 0-10 to 0-3. Points from Mellett and Aidan Cunningham closed the gap before Jack Livingstone’s clutch two-point free pushed Breaffy ahead.

Robbie Fadden then extended the lead as Belmullet went nearly twenty minutes without a score.

Though Eamon McAndrew briefly levelled for Belmullet, Breaffy kept their composure down the stretch.

Late scores from a Pierce Deane two pointer and Daire Morrin sealed a four-point win at one of the county's toughest venues for the visitors.
