Warm weather set to give way to unsettled spell across Mayo

MAYO is set to enjoy a warm and largely settled Monday before a more unsettled spell of weather moves in from Tuesday.

Met Éireann is forecasting sunny spells across the county today, with temperatures reaching around 19 to 23 degrees.

Winds will remain light to moderate, while conditions are expected to stay mainly dry through the afternoon.

Tonight will remain mostly dry with clear spells, although there will be a chance of some showers. Temperatures will stay relatively mild overnight.

However, the more settled conditions will not last.

Tuesday is expected to bring cloudier and more humid weather to Mayo, with scattered showers developing.

Rain is forecast to become more widespread from the afternoon, with the main band of rain reaching western and northwestern areas during Tuesday evening or early Tuesday night.

The unsettled conditions are expected to continue into Wednesday and Thursday, with showers and longer spells of rain forecast.

Some of the showers could be heavy or thundery, with a risk of localised surface flooding in places.

There is currently no weather warning in operation for Mayo.

The latest outlook therefore points to a change from the warm and relatively settled conditions being experienced today to a wetter and more unsettled spell from Tuesday onwards.
