Information session dates for 35 new 'starter homes' in Mayo county town

Mayo County Council, in partnership with Sayvale Homes, is progressing a new Starter Home Scheme Development at Heather View, Snugboro, Castlebar.

The scheme will provide an opportunity for eligible purchasers to buy a new A-rated home at a reduced purchase price within a private residential development comprising 99 homes in total.

A total of 35 homes will be made available under the Starter Home Purchase Scheme, comprising of 10 two-bedroom homes and 25 three-bedroom homes.

The homes will be offered for sale by Sayvale Homes and marketed through DNG Burke Auctioneers.

Heather View provides easy access to local schools, employment centres, retail facilities, recreational amenities and transport links.

The development is designed to deliver modern, energy-efficient homes that meet the needs of first-time buyers and other eligible applicants seeking to establish a long-term home in the Castlebar area.

Applications for the Heather View Starter Home Scheme will open in late 2026 through Mayo County Council's online application portal.

Information sessions on the new Starter Home Scheme (formerly Affordable Housing) will take place as follows:

* Tuesday, September 8: Áras an Chontae, Castlebar - 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m.

* Tuesday, September 15: First Choice Credit Union Castlebar - 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

Further information regarding the homes themselves, including specifications, floor plans and sales particulars, will also be available from DNG Burke Auctioneers, the appointed selling agents for the development.
