Former Mayo under-21 manager to take over the reins in Offaly
Former Mayo Under 21 Gaelic football manager, Ballaghaderreen’s Mike Solan is set to become the next manager of the Offaly footballers after being proposed by the Faithful County's management committee.
Solan, who left his position as Longford boss earlier this month, will go forward for ratification at September’s county board meeting.
If accepted, he will begin a three-year term and will be joined in the management team by former Mayo, Sligo and Longford coach Joe Keane and Offaly legend Nigel Dunne, who guided the Faithful minors to Leinster glory for the first time in 35 years in 2025.
As well as Longford, Solan has previously managed the Mayo Under-21s and was part of Andy Moran’s management team in Leitrim.
Previous Offaly joint-managers Mickey Harte and Declan Kelly stepped down last month.
Harte had initially been considering another year after joining Kelly on the line in 2024, with Kelly there from the previous season, before the pair ultimately announced their departures.
