Mayo senator confirms Manulla Junction shelter to be in place by November

Senator Mark Duffy has confirmed that a passenger shelter will be installed at Manulla Junction by November.

The announcement follows sustained campaigning by Duffy, including regular engagement through the Joint Oireachtas Transport Committee.

Duffy, a longtime advocate for public transport, thanked Mary Considine, Chief Executive of Irish Rail, and her team for their co-operation on the issue.

The Mayo-based Senator said he has received repeated contacts from rail passengers affected by the lack of shelter at the junction.

"Passengers from Ballina and Foxford are being left exposed to the elements, subject to inclement weather conditions and then sitting on a train for several hours," Duffy said.

"It's a situation that is unacceptable in this day and age. It's something that I have fought hard for, and it's great to finally see a solution being put in place."
