Death in Mayo of widely-regarded nun Sr. Jane Vereker

The death of Sr. Jane Vereker, Sisters of St. Louis, Rosebury Court, Knock, and formerly of Limerick, Ramsgrange, Wexford, Nigeria, and Gravesend, Kent.

She died peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Claremount Nursing Home, Claremorris.

During her vocation, she served as a missionary and educator and was held in very high regard.

She was predeceased by her parents Madge and Seán, her brother Jack and sister-in-law Kay.

Sr. Jane is deeply regretted by her cousins in Cork, Limerick and Boston, her St. Louis Community, her many good friends and past pupils, to whom sympathy is extended.

A tribute on social media described the deceased as 'a very special lady'.

Requiem Mass takes place tomorrow (Wednesday) in St. John the Baptist Church, at 10.30 p.m. followed by burial in Kilkinure Cemetery, Kiltimagh.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.
