Rain and wind set to return to Mayo on Thursday

Mayo is set for a changeable day on Thursday, with rain and strengthening winds expected to become more prominent as the day progresses.

According to the latest forecast, the county will see a "largely dry start to Thursday", with some sunny spells and the possibility of a few isolated showers during the morning.

However, conditions are expected to deteriorate through the afternoon, with cloud increasing and rain spreading eastwards across the county.

Some of the rain is likely to be heavy at times, particularly later in the day, while winds will also strengthen from the south or southwest.

Temperatures are expected to remain relatively mild for early September, reaching around 16 to 18 degrees Celsius during the afternoon.

The wet and breezy conditions are expected to continue into Thursday evening, with further outbreaks of rain possible.

Overall, Thursday looks set to start on a relatively pleasant note before becoming wetter and windier through the afternoon and evening.
