IFA to hold public meeting in Mayo on future of CAP post-2027

THE Irish Farmers' Association (IFA) will hold a public meeting on the future of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) post-2027 at the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris, on Wednesday next, September 9.

Connaught IFA chairman Brendan Golden has issued an invitation to IFA members across the province to attend.

The meeting will give farmers the chance to hear about the key issues facing the agricultural sector as discussions continue on the next CAP, and to have their voices heard on the priorities that must be addressed.

Among the issues up for discussion will be the future direction of CAP after 2027, securing farm payments and ensuring a strong and properly funded agricultural support system for farmers.

The meeting will also consider the challenges facing farm families and the importance of ensuring future CAP policy recognises the economic, environmental and social contribution made by Irish farmers.

IFA president Francie Gorman, along with IFA director general Damian McDonald and IFA economist Tadgh Buckley, will outline the organisation's position and priorities for CAP post-2027, with an emphasis on securing a strong budget and protecting farm incomes.

Farmers from across Connaught and the surrounding areas are encouraged to attend.

The meeting takes place at the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris, on Wednesday, September 9, at 8 p.m.
