Mayo GAA club suspends all activities until further notice due to tragedy
Ballyhaunis GAA Club has suspended all activity - training sessions and matches - until further notice.
The decision has been taken to allow members and the wider community to come to terms with the tragic loss of life in the town last night.
A boy of 12 lost his life when a car in which he was travelling was struck by a train at a user-operated level crossing at Kiltybo, near the town.
The club statement added: "Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted during this incredibly difficult time.
"The club will make will make an official statement and details on supporters for all club member shortly."
The club's Mayo IFC round three clash against The Neale, scheduled for Sunday at Ballindine, has been postponed.
