Mayo school's new build project progressing

THE board of management of the Sacred Heart School in Westport has announced that its new school building project is moving into the next phase of development.

The school has received notification from the Department of Education that the project is progressing to Stage 2A, which means it is now entering the detailed design and planning phase.

In a social media update, the school explained that it is difficult to progress beyond Stage 1, so this is a very positive indication of the commitment to and support for the new school building project.

The update continued: 'We now look forward to developing the final plans for our school and seeing our vision for the future take shape.

'We are also excited to see which of the many suggestions put forward by our students and staff are incorporated into the final design.'

The update featured a graphic provided by the design team, illustrating the type of school building they have envisaged.
