Gardaí in Mayo probing alleged ammonia attack on pedestrian

Garda investigations are ongoing into an alleged ammonia attack on a man in Castlebar.

It has been reported that the victim suffered a grade 1 chemical injury to his eye.

He had been out walking at the time of the incident and was subsequently hospitalised.

In a statement, gardaí confirmed they were investigating an alleged assault that occurred in Castlebar on September 7 last at around 10.15 a.m.
