Mayo county town grieves passing of 'real gentleman' Larry McHale

The death of Larry McHale, Turlough, Castlebar, and late of St. Bridget's Crescent, Castlebar, and Caherlistrane, Co. Galway, has evoked a deep sense of loss in Mayo's county town.

A member of one Castlebar's oldest and most respected families, he died at his home on Wednesday.

A civil engineer by profession, he was a member of Castlebar Boxing Club in his youth and had the distinction of capturing a national title at boys level in 1975.

Predeceased by his parents Larry and Ellen and twin sister Geraldine, he is sadly missed by his heartbroken wife Teresa, daughter Gráinne and her partner Jorge, son Eoin and his partner Muireann, brother Anthony, sisters Mary and Columba, adored grandson Jack, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

Tributes on social media have described Larry as 'a real gentleman'.

Larry will repose in Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Sunday from 5.30 p.m. with removal at 7 p.m. to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.

Requiem Mass takes place on Monday at 10 a.m. followed by private cremation service in Mount Jerome Crematorium, Dublin.
