Mayo TDs and Senators encouraged to support early years workforce ahead of Budget 2027

An exodus of staff is putting the Early Years and School Age Care system at grave risk, according to Early Childhood Ireland (ECI), which briefed elected members at a ‘Meet the Members’ event in Dublin’s Buswells Hotel this week. Mayo TD Kiera Keogh, Chairperson of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Children and Equality, was in attendance.

At the event, Early Childhood Ireland encouraged elected members to push Government to name a date to introduce pay parity for Early Years and School Age Care graduates; to support the call to double the Graduate Premium in Core Funding; and the investment in three in-service days per year for every Early Years and School Age Care setting.
