Novice driving at 183km/h on Mayo's N17 arrested

A NOVICE driver detected travelling at 183km/h on the N17 last night has been arrested for dangerous driving.

Mayo Roads Policing Unit detected the vehicle on a wet N17 travelling at 183km/h in a 100km/h zone.

The novice driver was subsequently arrested.

The car was seized under Section 109(A) of the Road Traffic Act. Under this legislation, in order to get a vehicle back, the person must apply to the judge of the District Court.

Speeding at this level puts everyone on the road at risk, and gardaí have urged everyone to slow down, drive safe, and arrive alive.
