Dillon encourages Mayo sports clubs to prepare for new facilities fund

Minister Alan Dillon is encouraging Mayo sports clubs and community organisations to prepare for the new Community Sport Facilities Fund, with registration on the SPRAOI online system opening today, Monday, September 28.

The fund offers grants of up to €250,000 for local projects, €250,000–€550,000 under Tier 2, and up to €750,000 for larger multi-sport facilities under a new Tier 3. It also includes simpler eligibility rules, reduced lease requirements and greater support for partnerships between clubs and schools.

Minister Dillon said: “This is a valuable opportunity for Mayo clubs to improve their facilities, from pitches, floodlighting and dressing rooms to walking tracks and equipment. Volunteers put huge time and effort into keeping our clubs going. I encourage them to start preparing early, and my office is available to offer advice and support.”

Organisations previously registered on OSCAR have been transferred automatically to SPRAOI and do not need to register again. They should check the published transfer list on the scheme website and watch for an email explaining how to log in and confirm their details. New organisations should register as early as possible.

The scheme guide and terms and conditions are due during the week beginning October 12. Applications open on October 19 and close on February 26, 2027.
