Mayo Business Awards extend entry deadline following a strong response
Businesses across Mayo now have until 5 p.m. on Friday, October 2, to enter
The Mayo Business Awards have extended the deadline for entries to 5 p.m. on Friday next, October 2, following a strong response from businesses across the county.
The extension gives businesses that have not yet completed their entries additional time to put themselves forward for the 2026 awards, which celebrate the achievements, innovation and contribution of businesses across Mayo.
This year’s awards feature nine categories: Best Start-Up, Best Small/Medium Business, Manufacturing or Export, Innovation & Digital Impact, Excellence in Customer Experience, Hospitality Innovator of the Year, Leading Social Enterprise, Excellence in Tourism and Visitor Experience and Excellence in Sustainability.
The categories are supported by a range of organisations from across the business community. AIB sponsors the Best Start-Up Award, Mellett sponsors Best Small/Medium Business, AbbVie sponsors the Manufacturing or Export Award, and ATU sponsors the Innovation & Digital Impact Award.
Westport Estate sponsors the Excellence in Customer Experience Award, CBE sponsors Hospitality Innovator of the Year, De Care sponsors the Leading Social Enterprise Award, Fáilte Ireland sponsors Excellence in Tourism and Visitor Experience, while Leeson Enterprise Centre sponsors the Excellence in Sustainability Award.
The awards also include the Neill O’Neill Award, selected by Mayo Chambers and Mayo LEO, recognising a business that has shown exceptional commitment to supporting the local business community.
The Mayo Chambers Award, sponsored by ATU iHubs, is also part of this year’s awards. John Magee, Head of Enterprise at Local Enterprise Office Mayo, said the response to this year’s awards has been particularly encouraging.
“The response to this year’s Mayo Business Awards has been extremely encouraging, with a very strong level of interest from businesses across the county.
“Mayo has a diverse and ambitious business community, with businesses of all sizes and across many different sectors making a significant contribution to the local economy.
“Extending the deadline gives businesses who may have been considering entering a little more time to complete their application and showcase what they are achieving. I would encourage any business that has not yet entered to take advantage of the additional time and submit their entry before 5 p.m. on October 2.”
The Mayo Business Awards are a collaborative initiative between Mayo Local Enterprise Office and the six Mayo Chambers of Commerce: Ballina, Ballyhaunis, Erris, Castlebar, Claremorris and Westport.
The awards will culminate in a gala lunch at the Erris Coast Hotel, Geesala, on Friday, November 6, when the winners will be announced.
