Mayo teenagers set to represent Europe in India

South Mayo Secondary School students Edel Walsh and Orlaith Colleran, both from Hollymount, will represent Europe at the Technovation Junior Division Global Finals in India. The finals will commence next week.

The two 14-year-olds, who attend Mount Saint Michael Seconadary School, Claremorris, earned their place after their project, ‘DiAssist’ -an app to support young people with their diabetes- was chosen as one of just five finalists worldwide from more than 3,600 app entries submitted by girls in over 100 countries.

Both Edel and Orlaith are looking forward to the competition and they have been encouraged by the great support that they have received from their friends, and teachers at Mount Saint Michael Secondary School.
