Mayo school sees rise in Junior Cycle Distinctions

St. Joseph's Secondary School, Castlebar, has recorded a marked increase in Distinctions across subjects in this year's Junior Cycle results.

Students received their results yesterday (Wednesday). The school said there was great excitement and genuine joy as they opened them.

Principal Peadar Ó Tuathail said the school is particularly pleased with the impact of the revised grade boundaries introduced last year.

He believes the new grading structure has benefited students.

"Their achievements are a source of great pride," Mr Ó Tuathail said.

Many of the students have since moved on to 5th Year, including those in LCA1.

They returned to school to celebrate their results with their former 3rd Year classmates.

In a statement, the school thanked the students' teachers and the wider school staff for their commitment and support. It also thanked parents and guardians for their continued backing.

The school community extended its warmest congratulations and best wishes to all of the students.
