Mayo set for wet and windy start before brighter spells arrive
Mayo is set for a wet and blustery start tomorrow, Friday, before conditions improve with brighter spells and scattered showers.
According to the latest Met Éireann forecast, rain and drizzle will affect the county early in the morning, with the wet weather gradually clearing southeastwards.
Brighter conditions will then develop, with sunny spells and scattered blustery showers spreading across Mayo during the afternoon.
Temperatures are expected to reach highs of around 11 to 13 degrees, with moderate to fresh and gusty westerly winds.
Winds will be strongest along Atlantic coastal areas.
A Status Yellow rain warning covering Mayo is currently in place until 4am on Friday, with Met Éireann warning of heavy spells of rain, difficult travelling conditions and possible localised flooding.
The outlook for Friday night is for clear spells and scattered showers, with some showers potentially heavy.
Temperatures will fall to between 6 and 10 degrees.
