New pedestrian crossing proposed for east Mayo town

APPLICATION has been made for a pedestrian crossing at the church in Swinford.

The crossing is vitally needed in the town, Councillor Adrian Forkan told a municipal district meeting this week.

There's a lot of pedestrian movement and traffic in the area with two schools, the church, Tesco, and another new supermarket starting possibly in January, he said.

Speeding traffic is also an issue on the route, he added, and the crossing needs to be raised in the interest of safety.
