Mayo pier repairs delayed until spring
REPAIRS to the pier at Rosmoney won't start until next year.
They were due to start around now, and Councillor Peter Flynn sought an update at a municipal district meeting, saying he didn't want to head into another winter with the pier left in an unsafe manner.
A meeting has taken place with the contractor with a view to starting pontoon works in the coming weeks, he was told.
The structural element in relation to the pier is on hold. The contractor has been delayed and he won't get the spring tides, so it will be next year before structural works are carried out.
While disappointed with the update, the funding is in place, Councillor Flynn noted, and it was a case of timing, and he hoped it will be spring '27 rather than winter.
Down the coast at Roonagh Pier, remedial works are on target to start shortly.
