Mayo set for brighter spells on Thursday as weather warning ends
Mayo is set for an improving day on Thursday, October 15, as overnight heavy rain gives way to a mixture of cloud, scattered showers and some sunny spells.
A Status Yellow rain warning issued by Met Éireann for Mayo, Galway, Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo will remain in place until 6 a.m. on Thursday.
The national forecaster has warned that spells of heavy rain overnight could lead to difficult travelling conditions, poor visibility and localised flooding.
Thursday morning will see lingering showers across Mayo, although conditions are expected to gradually improve as the day progresses.
Cloudy skies will dominate much of the morning, with brighter intervals developing during the afternoon and some sunny spells possible. A few scattered showers may persist, but there will also be good dry periods.
Afternoon temperatures are expected to reach around 14 degrees.
Conditions will become increasingly settled during Thursday evening, with showers easing and clearer skies developing overnight.
Temperatures will fall to approximately 6 degrees overnight, bringing a noticeably cooler feel following the recent spell of unsettled weather.
Motorists are advised to remain cautious on Thursday morning, particularly in areas affected by heavy overnight rainfall.
