New chain of office emblem under consideration for Mayo municipal district

THE design for a new chain of office for the Westport-Belmullet Municipal District (MD) cathaoirleach is being explored.

A new chain was requested as the existing one was inherited from the former West Mayo MD and doesn't reflect Belmullet being part of the local authority area.

In an update, Councillor Peter Flynn was told the council is looking at prices for a chain and also what the emblem will be.

The councillor had also asked that flags be flown outside the Westport civic offices when visiting dignitaries are in town, and that the cathaoirleach and elected members be involved at sod turnings and contract signings.

All matters are being advanced, he was informed.
