Concern that Mayo homes renovated under Croí Conaithe are being used for airbnb
CONCERN about homes renovated under the Croí Conaithe scheme being used for airbnb has been voiced at a council housing committee meeting.
Under the scheme there is a legal obligation that a property will be used as a residence or for long-term rental.
However, Councillor Peter Flynn said he was made aware of some potentially going into airbnb use. And he wondered what checks are in place to ensure these homes don't end up in speculation after receiving significant grant aid.
There are series of legal obligations, one of which includes submitting details of a lease, he was told.
There is a significant monitoring programme where someone receives financial support, he was told, and the council will follow up specific cases.
