Progress on additional Mayo blueway landing point

WHERE is the blueway landing point in Foxford, local Councillor Neil Cruise wants to know.

It has been thrown about for a long time, with money granted in 2016, but 10 years on and the town still doesn't have it and people are getting upset about that, he said.

Money was granted for a landing point and different works at the bays in the area, including Lough Conn and Lough Cullin, but they still don't have a landing point in Foxford 10 years later.

Councillor Cruise told council management that he'd like to see something concrete in place for the next tourism season.

Director of services Tom Gilligan said planning documentation is now completed and it will before members at their next municipal district meeting in November.

It is a priority and it would be great to have it in-situ for the next tourism season, he added.
