Double weather warning issued for Mayo
MAYO is facing another spell of unsettled weather tomorrow, Monday, October 26, with Met Éireann issuing two Status Yellow warnings for the Bank Holiday.
Following a weekend of disruption caused by Storm Boelo, further heavy rain and strong winds are expected to affect the county as another Atlantic weather system approaches Ireland.
Monday will begin largely cloudy, with some showers possible during the early hours.
There may be a drier spell during the morning before further outbreaks of rain develop during the afternoon.
Temperatures will reach highs of 14 to 16 degrees, with southerly winds strengthening throughout the day.
Met Éireann has issued two weather warnings affecting Mayo:
Status Yellow rain warning: Valid from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Monday. A spell of heavy rain is expected, bringing the possibility of localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions and disruption to outdoor events.
Status Yellow wind warning: Valid from 5 p.m. until 11.59 p.m. on Monday.
Very strong and gusty south to southwest winds could result in displaced debris, fallen branches, difficult driving conditions and large coastal waves.
Conditions are expected to deteriorate during the evening, with further heavy rainfall moving across western counties.
The latest warnings follow Storm Boelo, which brought damaging winds and heavy rainfall to Mayo over the weekend.
Met Éireann has highlighted the increased flooding risk associated with already saturated ground and elevated river levels following successive Atlantic storms.
Looking ahead to Tuesday, conditions will remain blustery, with a mixture of sunshine and showers.
Some showers could turn heavy, with isolated thunderstorms possible. Temperatures will reach between 9 and 12 degrees.
Motorists and those attending Bank Holiday events are advised to monitor the latest weather warnings and allow additional time for journeys.
