Ava Kate to represent Mayo at Miss Ireland final

LOCAL pride will take centre stage this November as Ava Kate Rattigan (19), from Irishtown, Claremorris, prepares to fly the flag for County Mayo at the glittering Miss Ireland 2026 grand final, taking place on November 21 at The Fairways Hotel, Dundalk.

Ava Kate is a home carer with a strong passion for helping others, personal growth and making a positive difference in her community.

She began working at the young age of 14, which taught her the importance of independence, responsibility and hard work. Working in care is something she genuinely loves, as it allows to build meaningful connections with people, support them through different stages of life and make a difference in their everyday lives.

Ava Kate is passionate about charity work and has raised over €1,000 for Western Alzheimers as part of her commitment to supporting people affected by Alzheimers and their families.

She is among an inspiring line-up of young women from across the country competing for one of Ireland’s most prestigious titles, with the chance to wear the coveted Miss Ireland crown and represent her country on the world stage in a competition that celebrates confidence, ambition, individuality and achievement.

Now celebrating its 78th year, the Miss Ireland final promises a dazzling evening of performances, excitement and anticipation. But behind the glamour, Miss Ireland is about so much more than a crown, celebrating ambition, confidence, leadership and community spirit, challenging finalists to showcase their talents and abilities across debating, public speaking, sport, modelling, social media and performance. Each finalist will also raise vital awareness and funds for charity while developing valuable life skills, confidence and lasting friendships.

This year, Miss Ireland is supporting Ronald McDonald House, helping families stay close to their seriously ill children during hospital treatment.

The winner will receive an exciting range of prizes, including an agency contract, alongside the opportunity to represent Ireland at the Miss World Festival in Tanzania in 2027, an international event televised in more than 100 countries worldwide.
