Designated routes improve pedestrian safety in Mayo car parks

THE installation of designated pedestrian routes in the two car parks off Main Street in Castlebar has been welcomed by municipal district cathaoirleach Councillor Ger Deere.

Councillor Deere had highlighted and campaigned to have the designated routes delivered.

He said major improvements had been made to the two car parks recently but there was a serious safety issue for pedestrians using the car parks.

“Now, with the bollards and defined coloured pathways it will be much safer for all,” he commented.

Councillor Deere thanked the council's engineering and outdoor staff for their work on the project.
