Mayo nails and tanning studio set for national finals
There is a buzz of anticipation in Castlebar as Lidia’s Nails & Tanning Studio situated on Castle Street, will be competing for a national title at the Irish Nations Hair and Beauty Awards 2026, which be held in Dublin, on December 13.
Lidia’s Nails & Tanning Studio will be vying for honours in the Nail Technician of the Year category.
Lidia’s has already received an Outstanding Achievement accolade in the Nail Technician of the Year Category at the Irish Hair and Beauty Awards Connaught and North Edition, which was held in the Clybaun Hotel, Galway, last September.
That success led to Lidia’s qualifying for the Irish Nations Hair and Beauty Awards.
Lidia Famulska is the owner and manager of Lidia’s Nails & Tanning Studio, and said they are over the moon with the success in Galway and are now looking forward to the finals in Dublin.
“I am so delighted that we are a finalist in this national awards ceremony. We were chosen as the winners in Connaught and North Edition, and we were also delighted with that success. We will be at the awards ceremony in Dublin on December 13. The category we are in is Nail Technician of the Year.
“I was shocked when I found out that we were nominated for the Connaught and North section of the competition. I have been a nail technician for over 19 years, and this studio in Castlebar has been open since 2014.
“I never entered any competition like this before, so to have been named the best in the Connaught and North Edition was a really big thing for us.”
The bustling business on Castle Street is family run, as Lidia explained.
“My daughter, Nadia, recently completed her studies in Beauty College and she has now joined the team at Lidia’s. Also, my son’s wife changed her profession, and she has also started working here. It is great to see new people working here and I am delighted.
“It is fantastic that Mayo won the All-Ireland, and now we could be celebrating another All-Ireland title in Castlebar on December 13.”
Lidia said that the support of her loyal customers has been amazing.
“I have amazing loyal customers, and they were terrific voting for us in the provincial competition. They have also been very supportive of me in the national competition.
“The biggest part of the awards is the customer vote – which they do online, and they write a few comments along with their vote. The voting for the Irish Nations Hair and Beauty Awards 2026 will close on Tuesday, November 3. People can also vote on both my Facebook and Instagram pages.
“I have clients who have been coming here for over 14 years, and they are also so happy that we have received this recognition.”
Lidia wants her staff to enjoy the trip to Dublin. “My staff and I will travel up to Dublin on December 13, and we will also try and make that coincide with a Christmas party for us.
“The national competition will be very difficult to win, as you have so many entries from around the country. However, we will give it our best shot and hopefully we will be very happy on December 13.
“I am so happy to see our studio in a national final and I would be delighted if we could get as much support as possible for this prestigious competition.”
