€142,200 investment for Mayo Sligo Leitrim youth services
Minister of State and TD for Mayo Alan Dillon has welcomed today’s announcement by Minister for Education and Youth Hildegarde Naughton of €142,200 in capital funding for youth services in the west under the UBU Youth Service Capital Funding Scheme 2026.
The funding, which is being administered through Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim ETB, will support two key youth organisations which work in the region.
Involve CLG – €68,000
Youth Work Ireland North Connaught – €74,200
The investment forms part of a wider national funding package of €2.236 million aimed at strengthening youth service facilities and infrastructure across the country.
Welcoming the announcement, the Minister Dillon said: "I am delighted to see this significant investment of €142,200 in youth services in the west.
"Organisations such as Involve CLG and Youth Work Ireland North Connaught play a vital role in supporting young people, providing safe spaces, personal development opportunities and essential services in communities across Mayo.
"This funding will enable these organisations to continue delivering their important work while further enhancing the range and quality of services available to young people. Investments in facilities, equipment and infrastructure help ensure that youth services remain accessible, welcoming and fit for purpose for the next generation."
The UBU Youth Service Capital Funding Scheme supports projects aimed at improving youth service infrastructure, accessibility, safety, sustainability and transport, ensuring young people have access to high-quality youth work services in every part of the country.
Minister Dillon concluded: "Today’s announcement builds on the government's continued commitment to investing in young people.
"In addition to recent capital funding of €1.6 million for minor works and equipment purchases under the UBU Capital Scheme and over €500,000 through the Youth Capital Funding Scheme for national youth organisations, this brings capital funding allocated to youth services nationwide in 2026 to a total of €4 million.
"This substantial investment is helping to ensure that youth organisations across Mayo and Ireland have the facilities, resources and infrastructure needed to support the next generation and continue making a positive difference in communities for years to come."
