Gardaí make appeal over west Mayo home break-ins

GARDAÍ in Castlebar are appealing for information in their investigations into break-in to private dwellings at Glenisland and Newport yesterday.

A gang, travelling around the region in a black Mazda 6 with an 2009 Galway registration, is understood to be behind the burglaries.

A significant sum of money was taken from the home in Glenisland. The thieves broke into the house by smashing a window at the rear of the house.

It is understood the same gang were involved in a similar break-in to a dwelling at Castlebar Road, Newport.

The same approach of breaking a window at the back of the house was used to gain entry. However, it appears they left in a hurry as nothing was stolen.

Anybody with information should contact Castlebar Garda Station at 094-9022222.
