New Mayo boss Horan casts eye over players at Castlebar trials

NEW Mayo manager James Horan and his management team have been conducting trials in Castlebar today as moves to unearth new talent for the county's senior football squad are stepped up, writes KEVIN MORAN.

In the first match, Breaffy's Aidan O'Shea was prominent and Hollymount's Darren Coen was the best forward on display.

Donovan Cosgrove (Kiltimagh) was steady in his defensive play throughout, while Jason Coyle (Ballyhaunis) kicked a number of scores, including a goal.

In the second trial, Andy Moran and Keith Higgins impressed for their respective sides.

Jack Reilly (Charlestown) and Ainen O'Sullivan (The Neale) performed well on either wing, kicking 1-6 between them

Tommy Conroy, James Carr and Evan O'Brien were others to catch the eye.

Further trails are planned for Bekan on Monday.
