Coastal cleanup volunteers find message in a bottle

VOLUNTEERS on a coastal cleanup found a message in a bottle recently.

The message – written by a six-year-old Grade 1 pupil in Canada – was sent on its journey nine years ago.

It was recently discovered by a group carrying out a cleanup in Newport.

The Newport Mayo Facebook page posted a picture of the letter earlier today and it's remarkably intact after its voyage across the Atlantic.

The young author got her dad to launch the bottle while going about his work on a supply boat for an oil field.
