Passing of widely popular Castlebar personality
THE death has taken place of Tom McHale, Boradruma, Castlebar.
The deceased, a member of a popular and widely respected family, was a former Eircom employee and he also worked on his farm all his life.
Paying tribute to him this evening, Councillor Ger Deere described the deceased as 'a true gentleman' who was always prepared to lend a helping hand to his neighbours and friends.
“The village of Boradruma has lost one of finest personalities,” he added.
"I tender my sympathy to the family on their loss."
He is survived by his daughters Sally (Cooney, Tibohine, Frenchpark) and Triona (McConkey, Dublin), sons Joe (Killarney), Tom (Galway) and Dualta (Boradruma), sons-in-law Padraic and Robert, daughters-in-law Maureen, Fiona and Maria, grandchildren James, Alex, Ryan, Zoe, Cian, Eoin, Ruairi, Paddy, Billy, Sarah and Sean, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is extended.
Tom was predeceased by his wife Kathleen (née Ketterick), brother Jimmy, sister Bridie (Hughes, Mayo Abbey) and grandchild baby Kate.
His remains will arrive at the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, on Friday evening at 7.45 p.m.
Funeral Mass takes place on Saturday at 11 a.m. with burial afterwards in Old Cemetery, Castlebar.
