Sum of €2m. allocated for social housing in Foxford

A PROVISIONAL budget of €2,019,302 has been approved for the construction of 10 new social housing units in Foxford.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny Kenny stated “I am delighted to confirm that just over €2 million has been provisionally approved to Mayo County Council for the construction of 10 new social houses in Foxford.”

“Notification of the approval should issue to Mayo County Council in the next day or so. The development will consist of five two bedroom single storey houses, four three bedroom two storey houses and one four bedroom two storey houses.”

The funding falls under the Local Authority Housing Construction Programme which is part of Rebuilding Ireland, the government’s plan to accelerate housing supply in Ireland and to tackle our country’s housing shortage.

“The range of actions set out in Rebuilding Ireland is ambitious, both in the scale of investment of some €5.5 billion in social housing and housing infrastructure, but also in its pursuit of appropriate reform, acknowledging the need for new thinking if we are going to deliver the kind of housing that people here in Mayo and across Ireland want, in the right places and in a manner that they can afford,” he added.
