Carra National School is closing tomorrow

End of an era as Mayo school prepares for closure

THE end of an era for Carra National School as one of the focal points in the community of Carra and parish of Bonniconlon will be marked tomorrow when it closes its doors to pupils.

Although this is a sad occasion, the school and community wants to end the last day on a happy note.

With this in mind, a gathering has been organised for Friday evening.

A post on the Celebration of Carra National School Facebook page stated: “We are extending an open invitation to all past pupils, staff, friends and local community to come together and celebrate the life and times of Carra National School.

“It will be an evening of memories, reminiscing, stories, memorabilia, and meeting old friends. There will be music and entertainment and light refreshments will be served on the night.

“Please tag and share to all past pupils and anyone who would like to join in the celebrations to make this night a memorable one as the key is turned one last time in the doors of Carra.”
