Knock airport to reopen following heavy snow

Heavy snowfalls closed Knock airport this morning but flights are expected to resume around midday following operations to clear the runway.

A Ryanair flight from London Stansted this morning was forced to divert to Shannon.

Affected passengers are being bussed from Shannon to Knock at the moment.

An airport spokesman said that as of 11 a.m. the snow had stopped and operations to clear the runway had begun.

The spokesman said he was hopeful that inwards and outward flights would be able to operate as normal later.

Flights from UK destinations Liverpool, East Midlands and London (Luton) are due to land at Knock within the next few hours.
