MAYO Fianna Fáil Councillor Lisa Chambers has moved to clarify confusion in respect of the new political party Renua’s political advisor.

In a statement issued to The Connaught Telegraph, she explained: “Reports last week that Lisa Chambers was the legal advisor to Renua certainly created a stir in Mayo and further afield. It led people to think I had jumped ship and had left Fianna Fáil, which is obviously not true at all.

“I had party colleagues across the country calling me to get clarification. I actually found this amusing but do want to clear this up. This is a different lady and is not a relation of mine. She just happens to have the same name and is from Mayo. She is the daughter of former Fianna Fáil Senator Frank Chambers and as, I understand, she is a solicitor in Dublin and is a friend of Lucinda Creighton.

“This is not the first time the two of us have been confused and we had a good laugh about this when we met at the Mayo Association awards dinner last month. I am committed to running for Fianna Fáil and can see nothing attractive in Renua. From what I can see it a party with no policies and one which intends to sit on the fence for all tough and difficult decisions. A country cannot be run like this,” added the Castlebar-based representative.
