Mayo juniors outclassed by kerry

THE Mayo juniors' bid for All-Ireland glory came up short when they were comprehensively beaten by Kerry in Croke Park this afternoon on a scoreline of 2-18 to 0-10.

There can be few complaints in the Mayo camp as they were beaten by a much classier Kerry 15.

The writing was on the wall after the opening quarter as Mayo trailed by six points. However, the introduction of Andrew Farrell added a bit more power to the attack and he, along with Eoin O'Donoghue and Damien McGing, kept Mayo in touch with some fine points, with Farrell getting four of the six half-time total.

Kerry started the second half in fine style and after man of the match Tomas Hickey scored their second goal in the 37th minute, Mayo's hopes were dead and buried.

In fairness to Mayo, whose goalkeeper, Blake Forkan, was outstanding, they kept battling away and managed to score four points from Farrell, Declan Healy, Michael Togher and Cathal Freeman, but at the end of the day they were outplayed and outclassed by a superior Kerry team.
