Arrests made following Swinford break-ins

THREE people have been brought before Achill Court after being charged in relation to two house break-in which took place in the Swinford area in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Because the intruders were disturbed by the residents and ran off, it was originally believed that nothing had been taken. But it has since emerged that   jewellery and cash were stolen.

Five people were arrested in Charlestown yesterday in connection with the incidents and stolen property was recovered, including cash, 'phones and watches while a car was also seized.

The five people arrested – four adults and a juvenile – all have Dublin addresses and were taken to Claremorris Garda Station for questioning.

Gardai have confirmed that three of the adults were brought before Achill Court in relation to a number of offences while a fourth adult was released without charge, pending further investigations.
