Islandeady strike gold at Foróige Youth Citizenship Awards

THE Foróige Youth Citizenship Awards, in partnership with Aldi, saw Islandeady Foróige Club scoop a Gold Star Award for their village enhancement project, which included the redevelopment of a local slipway.

There was further Mayo success with Cyber Crew Ballina Neighbourhood Youth Project winning a Bronze Star Award for their internet safety awareness campaign.

The awards celebrated the work of young people in the community over the past year, with over 2,000 young people in attendance as well as hundreds of volunteers.

A number of other Mayo clubs and projects were feted at the awards, including Belcarra Foróige Club, Aghamore Foróige Club, the Big Brother Big Sister Programme in Castlebar, Castlebar Neighbourhood Youth Project, Ballina YouthBank, Swinford Foróige Club, Mayo Comhairle na nÓg, Crossmolina Foróige Club, Louisburgh Foróige Club, Tooreen Foróige Club, Teen Scene Neighbourhood Youth Project, Ballina, Ballina Neighbourhood Youth Project Juniors, Fiona Connolly, Big Brother Big Sister programme, Westport Neighbourhood Youth Project, and Cyber Crew Ballina Neighbourhood Youth Project.
