ATM damaged in theft attempt

GARDAÍ are investigating an attempted break-in to the ATM at the Ulster Bank branch at North Mall, Westport, in the early hours of this morning.

Senior officers have confirmed that the unit was 'tampered' with overnight although it is not believed any money was stolen.

The alarm was raised at around 10 a.m. today when damage to the unit was reported by a member of the public.

Gardaí at Westport - (098) 25555 - are seeking the help of the public as they endeavour to further their investigations.
