Passing of Westport publican is widely mourned

THE death has taken place of popular Westport publican and businessman Michael Foy, Quay Street, Westport, and formerly of Springfield, Castlebar.

The deceased, along with his wife Geraldine, successfully ran McCarthy's pub and B&B accommodation at Quay Street, Westport.

News of his passing is widely mourned in the Westport business community as well as in his native, Castlebar, where he was held in high regard as a member of an old and respected Castlebar family.

Aged 57, he was eldest son of Ann and the late Billy Foy. Springfield.

Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Geraldine (née) Murphy, (Belcarra), daughters Ciara and Avril, son Steven, grandson William Casey, mother Ann, brothers Liam and John, sisters Ruby (Hynes), Martha (Dunne), Jean (O'Malley), aunts, uncles, cousins, mother-in-law Maisie Murphy, brothers-in- law, sisters-in-law, relatives and friends.

His remains will be reposing at the home of his mother Ann, Springfield, Castlebar, on Thursday evening from 5.30 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Requiem Mass takes place in Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, on Friday morning 11 a.m. followed by burial in Kilgeever Cemetery, Louisburgh, arriving at 1.30 p.m.
