MIKE McCormack's novel Solar Bones has been longlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2017.

The Mayo-born author's incredible novel, which was first published in May 2016, has been both a commercial and critical success, having won the 2016 Goldsmiths Prize, the BGE Irish Novel of the Year award and Overall Book of the Year. It was also shortlisted for 2017's Kerry Group Irish Novel Award and the inaugural Republic of Consciousness Prize.

Mike says he is 'thrilled to be longlisted, and so happy for those who put their faith in such an experimental flight – my publishers, Tramp Press and Canongate, and my agent Marianne Gunn O'Connor'.

Meanwhile, his publishers at Tramp Press, Lisa Coen and Sarah Davis-Goff, said: “Working with Mike on this stunning piece of literature has been in once-in-a-lifetime experience, and watching him get the recognition he deserves as one of the world's leading literary talents is incredibly gratifying.â€
