Public hearing into alleged Mayo contraventions of Ethical Frameworks

THE Standards in Public Office Commission (SIPO) is to hold a public hearing in October for the purposes of its investigation alleged contraventions of the Ethical Frameworks for the Local Government Service.

Councillor Frank Durcan, Councillor Cyril Burke and Mr. Peter Hynes, chief executive, of Mayo County Council, have been asked to give evidence at the hearing which is fixed for Dublin's SIPO office (Lower Leeson Street) on Monday, October 23.

The commission said that if necessary it will continue to sit the following day (Tuesday, October 24).

The commission may, where it considers it appropriate, direct that the whole or part of any sitting be held in private.

There will be a limited number of spaces for the public who wish to attend the sitting.
