Long-running issue for Mayo shoppers is resolved

AN issue that has angered shoppers in Castlebar for some time has been resolved. . .finally.

A new pedestrian pathway is now in place linking the Tesco and Aldi/TK Maxx car parks with the pedestrian crossing seperating the two locations.

The free access had been blocked for a number of years after fencing was erected at the boundary of the Tesco car park following an accident.

But that didn't prevent shoppers from climbing over it, creating a greater health and safety issue than had previously been the case.

Now, however, a solution has been found and has been warmly received by members of the public at one of the town's busiest locations during peak shopping hours.
