Ballintubber, Moy Davitts and Breaffy join the Mayo GAA quarterfinal party
THE final eight for their year's Mayo senior football championship quartersfinals were decided at the weekend.
Ballintubber, Breaffy and Bohola-Moy Davitts securing theIr places to join Castlebar, Ballaghaderreen, Claremorris, Westport, and Garrymore in the draw.
County champions Castlebar Mitchels remain unbeaten and topped their group with Ballaghaderreen in second spot.
The big scoreline of the day came from Gilmartin Park in Kiltimagh where last year's intermediate champions, Bohola-Moy Davitts, crushed Charlestown to take second place in their group behind Garrymore, who defeated Knockmore to remain unbeaten.
Brian Reape put in another stellar display for the Bohola-Moy Davitts side, winners by 14 points - 1-20 to 1-6.
Breaffy also booked their spot in the knockout stages by beaiing Davitts but they had to settle for runners-up place as Ballintubber flexed their muscles to win the group, beating a very disappointing Kiltane side on Satuday evening at MacHale Park.
Wesport and Claremorris were already through and it was Westport who came out on top of their final clash to go through as group winners.
Hollymount-Caramore are safe for another year after drawing with Crossmolina, while a draw against Aghamore was enough to keep Ballina in senior championship football next season.
Kiltane are also secure as are Charlestown which leaves Crossmolina, Davitts, Knockmore and Aghamore in a relegaton play-off.
Intermediate scene
The intermediate championship was wide open with Kiltimagh the only team to have qualifed before the third round fixtures at the weekend.
