Death of businessman John Duffy

THE death has occurred of businessman John Duffy, Kilcolman, Ballaghaderreen, owner of Duffy's SuperValu in Ballaghaderreen.

He passed away yesterday (Sunday) after a short illness at University College Hospital, Galway.

Always a gentleman, John was the driving force behind a very successful supermarket where he was a familiar figure on the shop floor meeting customers.

The customer always came first with John, and it was this ethos that made him a very popular figure and drew shoppers from a wide catchment area.

He is mourned by his loving family, wife Bernadette, daughters Teresa and Lorna and son Kevin, son-in-law Brendan, sister Mary, brothers James, Padraig and Joe, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, the staff of Duffy's SuperValu, and a very large circle of friends.

John will lie in repose in his home this Tuesday afternoon from 3 until 7 p.m., with removal to the Cathedral of the Annunciation and St. Nathy, arriving at 8 p.m. (house private at all other times). Mass of the Resurrection is on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. with burial afterwards in Kilcolman Cemetery.
