Passing of widely respected Castlebar woman

THE death has taken place of Gina Carney (nèe Waldron), Corheens, Castlebar, and formerly of Logboy, Ballyhaunis.

A physiotherapist by profession, she was held in high regard in the community at large and news of her passing, following a lengthy illness borne with courage and dignity, has evoked feelings of immense sorrow and loss.

The deceased gave sterling service to Castlebar Mitchels GAA Club over the years.

A tribute on the club's Facebook page stated: "During the 1980s and '90s, she was physio to our teams and was highly respected as a caring, hardworking and committed club member. She was also a member of our ladies committee."

She is survived by her husband Martin, son Eoin, daughters Niamh, Orla and Eimear, daughter-in-law Mary, brothers, sisters, extended family, relatives and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

Her remains will be reposing in Kilcoyne's Funeral Home tomorrow (Wednesday) evening from 5 p.m. with removal at 8 p.m. to St. Aloysius Church, Breaffy.

Burial takes place in Breaffy Cemetery after Requiem Mass at 12 noon on Thursday.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.
