Meadbh O'Shea

Young Sports Stars of the Year Award winner No. 21: Meadbh O'Shea

We start our look at the Merit Award winners in our Young Sports Stars of the Year Awards by focusing on a new category, Volunteer of the Year.

In this, the first year, the award goes to Meadbh O'Shea from Breaffy for her outstanding work as a volunteer with Mayo Community Games.

Sixteen-year-old Meadbh, who is a transition year student in St. Joseph's Secondary, Castlebar, has been involved in Community Games since she was six years old.

Despite her involvement in the competitive sphere, Meadbh was always available to help out at area level and was on hand to do likewise at several county and provincial events.

She enjoys being involved with and has helped out at the art, model making, quiz and athletic competitions, and assisted in selling programmes. As if that wasn't enough, doing results at the Connaught Community Games finals also became part of her voluntary work. Her's truly is a merited award.
